Christmas is Almost Here

12 Dec

for Uncle Charlie Brown
(this piece will be continually edited up through Christmas, so check back often)

Soon it will be time
to start
listening for sleigh bells
in the sky, yeah
Christmas is almost
here again.

Shopping for Christmas
“I Believe in Santa Claus”
plays inside as outside
the thrift store
Santa rings his bell
in old thrift stores,
Christmas lights
and more Christmas
songs and sounds
drifting on
windy
winter
welcomes.

The choir in tattered
robes-
arm in arm-
with that dimestore
SantaClaus- they
sing “Christmas Is Here”
as those flames crackle
in the fireplace- and lights
twinkle- Christmas
movies play in black
and white- red, green,
yellow, and “Blue
Christmas Elvis croonss
his favorite
Christmas tune.

So I listen for that
jingle jangle in the
night- yeah- I
believe in
Santa Claus. And.
aren’t those silver
bells I hear a
jingling a
jangling
in the sky
above?

A Christmas Carol comedy
in black and white with
my parents- makes for a
fine festive holiday
night- and later on the
Satellite of Love
Santa Claus will
teach the Martians
the true meaning
of Christmas and
love lighter
than any
twinkling tree
light.

“What is a Santa Claus?”
I asked my Dad one
early November dawn
chopping wood, and he
said, “I believe in
Santa Claus
because I believe
in magic.”

Thanks for stopping by, and always a pleasure- singular & distinct- to meet a fellow believer! Please stop back by the blog has been vacant of late, but coming up a new potential poetry experiment with photographs.
